Midwife
Glacial Ridge Health System is excited to welcome Anne Gilbertson, CNM, a certified nurse midwife with over 14 years of experience in women’s health and obstetric care. Beginning August 4, Anne will be seeing patients at both Glenwood Medical Center and Starbuck Medical Center. She welcomes new patients, including the women she has cared for in the Alexandria area.
Anne grew up in rural northwest Iowa, where she developed a strong work ethic and a deep appreciation for community. Inspired by her parents’ careers in healthcare, she pursued a path that allows her to care for women at every stage of life.
She earned her bachelor's degrees in biology and nursing from Augustana College in South Dakota and worked as a hospital RN for three years. In 2011, she completed her Master of Science in Nursing with a focus in nurse-midwifery at Philadelphia University.
Anne offers a full range of midwifery and women’s health services, including:
-
Prenatal and obstetric care
-
Breastfeeding and lactation support
-
Menopause care and symptom management
-
Family planning and contraception
-
Colposcopies and gynecologic screenings
-
Annual wellness exams and preventative care
Known for her warm and collaborative approach, Anne believes in open communication and empowers women to take an active role in their care. Her goal is to provide personalized, respectful care while supporting women through every stage of life.
She was drawn to Glacial Ridge Health System for its collaborative, patient-centered approach and the opportunity to provide full-spectrum care in the welcoming communities of Glenwood and Starbuck.
Outside of work, Anne enjoys spending time with her husband, their two sons, and their dogs—whether boating, hiking, or simply enjoying the outdoors.
